Who publishes this site

jesusoilpaintings.com is published by Gospel Cycle Editorial. This policy describes what the site records about a visit, what it does not, and what happens to anything you send to desk@jesusoilpaintings.com. It covers this domain only.

What this site actually does

Jesus Christ Oil Paintings is a reference catalogue. There is no account, no profile, no saved reading list, no comment section and no mailing list. The site never asks a visitor who they are, and has no mechanism for finding out.

No analytics script runs on these pages and no advertising tag is present. Nothing records which episodes a reader looks at, which matters more here than on most sites: what a person reads about religion is not information this catalogue wants to hold, and the simplest way to guarantee that is not to collect it.

Artwork images are served by the collections and repositories that hold them, so loading a page discloses your IP address to those hosts, as it would on any page carrying an image from another domain. Gospel Cycle Editorial neither controls nor receives their logs.

Server logs

Like any web server, the hosting provider records a line for each request: the IP address it came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. Those logs exist so that failures can be diagnosed and abuse can be blocked. They are not used to build a profile, are not combined with anything else, and are not sold or shared.

Hosting and image delivery are provided by third parties acting on our instructions. They process request data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Correspondence with churches, communities and readers

Mail to desk@jesusoilpaintings.com is read by the editor and retained only while the matter it raises is open. A recurring category is worth naming: messages from parishes, religious communities and their volunteers about works in their own care.

Such messages routinely include the location of a valuable painting, the name of the person responsible for it, and details of when a building is open or unattended. That is security-relevant information about a third party, and it is never published, never added to a catalogue entry and never forwarded. Where a correction comes from one of these messages, the entry records the correction and not its source.

Asking what we hold

Because there is no account, the only thing that can be held about an identifiable person is an email they sent. You may ask what that is, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to desk@jesusoilpaintings.com. Deletion is the default outcome once a question is closed, so in most cases there is nothing left to delete.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything material enough to matter will be described rather than slipped in.
